Dolores Irene Pollack, kind, loving soul
Dolores Irene Pollack, 88, of Lewes and formerly of Bellmawr, N.J., passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at the Milford Center in Milford, after a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Dolores was born April 28, 1937, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Herman Legg and Stella (Gawronski) Legg.
Dolores' life was marked by kindness, positivity and service to others. She was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, friend, co-worker and community volunteer. Her daughters were her world. She was their Girl Scout leader, school librarian and a tireless fundraiser. Dolores was an avid reader who loved following the news and politics, and she enjoyed all types of music. She was employed for 15 years at Deluxe Check Printers as a proofreader and office worker.
Dolores had a wonderful outgoing and friendly personality, and connected with people easily. This led to a family joke, because Mom would often return from a shopping trip with a story of who had approached her with questions or need for advice! "That smile," that everyone she met remembered, including her many caregivers, up to the very end of her long journey home. Dolores was a woman of genuine faith, a believer in the goodness of people despite their flaws.
Dolores was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Ron, in 2019. She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Eileen Pollack of Lewes, and Mary Ann and Brian Harris of Ijamsville, Md.
Friends are invited to attend a brief funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 9, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Lunch will follow the service.
